3 WAYS TO WEAR THE TRENCH DRESS

As you get older you become a different kind of shopper. When I was younger I was constantly shopping for pieces that weren’t the best quality, wouldn’t last more than one season and were just too trendy. Now I have become a more strategic shopper; I buy less and invest in quality pieces that I can wear over and over again in new, fresh ways! I am always thinking about all the different ways I can style my new purchases with the pieces I already have in my closet. I found that reinventing looks and reusing my favorite style staples and pieces creates a different kind of perspective on what I wear and how I wear it-I have made some of my all time favorite looks this way!

My most recent purchase was this trench dress(on sale)- I had to have it because it’s a unique piece that I will get so many wears out of and the trench is a classic pieces that has been reinvented into a dress. So I wanted to challenge myself to style the trench dress 3 different ways!

The first look I added a dramatic sleeve with off the shoulder vibes and a platform to create a more dressed up yet effortless feel. I styled the tie a bit differently to show the many versatile ways you can wear it. I left the top button unbuttoned to create a more stylized, relaxed and undone look!

For the second look was so easy but put together! I grabbed my go-to Z Supply white tee and added a simple mule with a block heel. This outfit is a perfect layered look for spring!

The last look is by far my favorite; I love having lots of unique elements in an outfit and I combined all my current favorites to reinvent my trench dress a third way. The top has contrasting elements-I love that there’s a statement sleeve yet the rest of the blouse is simple and understated so it doesn’t draw attention away from the dress. The top half of my look has tons of volume so I tied the trench dress to highlight my waist so that my frame isn’t lost within the look. I completed this outfit by styling the dress as an open vest with my absolute favorite Redone light wash jeans and a stacked lace up heel.
I love how undone the trench dress is in this look. It’s like this was an afterthought and I just threw it on over my jeans!

I wanted to show you guys that a dress doesn’t always have to be a dress. Even if it doesn’t open, try wearing a dress over jeans or wear a shirt under a dress. Play dress up! It’s how you find cool ways to wear every piece in your closet and don’t forget to take a picture of the look so you can revisit it later-if you still love it, wear it.

It takes a bit more time and effort to stop and think of all the ways you can wear your next purchases but it will negate buyer’s remorse and add a pieces to your collection that you will be proud to wear more than one time.

Get some of these pieces for your wardrobe before they sell out! The dress is currently on sale and all the tops I wore are below $60! Affordable finds leave you more room in the budget for higher-end quality pieces to add to your closet down the line.
